Add Products and Opening Stock

Use this guide to prepare your store for selling.

Goal

Create categories and products, then make sure each store has usable stock.

Where to go

Open:

  • Inventory

Steps

  1. Open the Inventory page.
  2. Add product categories first if you want products grouped neatly.
  3. Create products with the correct names, prices, and category assignments.
  4. Confirm that you are working in the right store context.
  5. Add opening stock or make a stock adjustment so quantities are available for sale.
  6. Review the inventory list and confirm stock levels look correct.

Expected result

After setup:

  • products exist in inventory
  • categories are available for filtering and organization
  • stock is available at the correct store
  • the POS can use those products during sales

Good practice

  • Use consistent category names
  • Double-check prices before going live
  • Load opening stock before training staff on the POS

Common mistakes

  • Creating products but forgetting stock adjustments
  • Loading stock into the wrong store
  • Using inconsistent product names that confuse staff
